Some LGUs Declared Class Cancellations in the Following Areas for Tuesday (Sept 7)

WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class cancellations due to the effects of Typhoon Jolina.

Typhoon Jolina is the weather system that currently affects the Philippine weather condition. It was last located at coastal water of Sto. Niño, Samar moving 20 kilometers per hour at a west northwestward direction.

The tropical cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 180 kph. It contains a central pressure of 990 hPa and expected to bring an inclement weather condition throughout the country.

Class Cancellations

Jolina is expected to make a landfall twice on Tuesday (September 7, 2021) in Daram town and the town of Sto Niño both in Samar. It has made it first landfall in Hernani, Eastern Samar last Monday (September 6).

Some local government units have decided to declare class suspensions in several areas due to the inclement weather condition. The work operations in some government offices have been suspended.

Class Cancellations

Here is the list of areas covered by the cancellation of classes:

  • Eastern Samar – All levels, public and private
  • Northern Samar – All levels, public and private
  • Albay – All levels, public and private
  • Tacloban City – All levels, public and private

However, government agencies related to public safety, emergency response, and medical services could continue to render their services amid the inclement weather condition. The operation of private offices depends on the decision of the owners.

The cancellation of classes have been made due to possible power interruption and signal outage amid inclement weather.
