Cotabato Policemen Denies Accusation of 11 Violating Curfew that They Allegedly Beaten

The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Cotabato City has denied the accusations their policemen allegedly beaten 11 individuals violating curfew.

Major Ivan Samoraga, the Pigcawayan Chief of Police, refuted allegations of police beatings of juveniles who broke the curfew. According to Pigcawayan Deputy Officer Lt. Leonalyn Sison, who spoke with Star FM Cotabato, the authorities followed the appropriate procedure in apprehending the violators, and they supposedly did not break the law.

She also stated that the police did not assault the youngsters. They also captured 11 persons filming a marathon, four of them were women and seven of whom were guys.

Based on the report, the group of youth allegedly made a lot of noise at 11:00 p.m. and were bothering their neighbors. As a result, for their own safety, the authorities decided to transport the violators to their holding place.

Meanwhile, the victims claimed that they were beaten before being escorted to the police station in an interview with Star FM Cotabato. A police officer who went to the incident allegedly struck, punched, slapped, and pulled the victim, according to the victim.

One of their comrades was allegedly brought into detention and punched by a prisoner. According to Mariam Joy Quilban, the head of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, it was discovered that the victims of the riots in the region already had a record, but the police did not do the proper thing.
